ASIC Published Notices is an ASIC-hosted public register for notices relating to corporate insolvency and external administration in Australia.

It gives researchers, creditors, advisers and journalists a way to identify important events affecting companies, including appointments, winding-up orders, creditor meetings, disclaimers of property and deregistration notices.

WHAT IS AN ASIC PUBLISHED NOTICE?

ASIC requires many insolvency and external administration notices to be published on its Published Notices website. The service replaced the former practice of publishing many notices in newspapers and the Business Gazette.

Notices on the current website are available from 1 July 2012 onwards. They can provide an early public indication that a company has entered voluntary administration, liquidation or another external administration process.

WHAT INFORMATION CAN YOU SEARCH?

ASIC allows the public to search Published Notices free of charge using information including:

  • company name or trading name
  • appointment type
  • notice purpose
  • publication date

Notice types can include winding-up orders, appointments of external administrators, meetings of creditors or members, calls for proofs of debt, dividend notices, disclaimers of property and company deregistration notices.

WHY ASIC PUBLISHED NOTICES MATTER

An ASIC Published Notice can be an important research lead. It may help establish when an insolvency event was publicly notified, identify the relevant company and appointment type, and direct further research into court filings, company records, government contracts and related entities.

A Published Notice is not a complete company history or a substitute for legal, financial or insolvency advice. It should be read alongside the underlying source material and the circumstances of the relevant matter.
